Concise description:
An extensive manual especially developed for the education of nurses, doctors and other primary care personnel in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of acute pesticide poisoning. The manual consists of 9 chapters (modules). The first module discusses the general aspects of pesticides, such as definitions, pest and pesticide
classification, use and adverse effects of pesticides to health and environment. Subsequent modules teach the characteristics, toxicology, diagnosis and treatment of the various pesticide groups. The last module is about prevention.
The manual is available in Spanish only. Although originally intended for education in Bolivia, the information given can be used worldwide.
Each module in the manual starts with a short introduction and clarification of the learning objects. Each module ends with questions for self-evaluation and an exercise. Answers to the questions and exercise, however, are not provided.
The manual can be downloaded free of charge. It can be completed off-line, without interaction.
The material is meant for doctors and other healthcare professionals that are involved in recognition, treatment and prevention.

A free course consisting of 6 lessons in workplace safety and health. The following lessons are presented: 1. Hazards in the workplace, 2. Measuring Risk, 3. Controlling Risk, 4. Safety Statement, 5. Reporting Accidents and Incidents, and 6. Responsibility. The course is developed towards young people (post primary education) to introduce them into the health risks of work.
After the course, they are able to define safety hazards in the workplace, make a basic risk assessment and estimate risks, know the principles of prevention and identify control measures, know the content of a safety statement, identify key elements in reporting of accidents and the responsibilities of all people involved in the workplace.

Each lesson consists of simple texts, illustrations and questions, and an assessment. The questions and assessment are interactive and feedback is given on the answers. One may continue without answering the questions. In that case, however, no feedback is provided. The lessons can be followed effectively on-line only. That is, the text presented can also be printed, but the questions, assessment and feedback cannot.
The material is primary meant for students. The level of the material is that of awareness and does not ask for any specific pre-knowledge in health care and / or occupational health. Teachers can monitor the progress of students using a free manager service (also available on the website). Some specific terms used are explained in a glossary.

It is designed for primary healthcare providers (physicians, specialists, nurses) and anyone with an interest in recognizing and preventing occupational and environmental cancer. Insights are provided into how the recognition of cancer risks can lead to prevention. Case studies will highlight the essential points and allow the participants to apply the lessons learned.
