An extensive manual especially developed for the education of nurses, doctors and other primary care personnel in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of acute pesticide poisoning. The manual consists of 9 chapters (modules). The first module discusses the general aspects of pesticides, such as definitions, pest and pesticide
classification, use and adverse effects of pesticides to health and environment. Subsequent modules teach the characteristics, toxicology, diagnosis and treatment of the various pesticide groups. The last module is about prevention.
The manual is available in Spanish only. Although originally intended for education in Bolivia, the information given can be used worldwide.
Each module in the manual starts with a short introduction and clarification of the learning objects. Each module ends with questions for self-evaluation and an exercise. Answers to the questions and exercise, however, are not provided.
