Workplace violence is not only detrimental to the health and dignity of people at work but also to the productivity and profitability of an organization. This training manual presents an activity plan with ready-to-use PowerPoint sheets, assignments, and forms for a 3 day interactive and participative course in recognizing, preventing and counteraction workplace violence. The course is directed towards both physical and psychological violence.
The training is addressed to a large audience, amongst others health personnel, representatives of professional organizations, trade unionists, administrators, managers and decision makers.
The manual (132 pages) can be downloaded and the forms are ready and can be printed for immediate use.
Although many examples and assignments come from the health care sector, it is possible to reformulate important parts so that the course will be suited also for other sectors. This will demand for a serious preparation by the teacher.

Concise description:
A training manual describing the major occupational health items (work environment, occupational diseases, ergonomics, psychological factors, accident prevention, health education, epidemiology, and special attention for women and children and small scale enterprises) for primary health care workers, being the target group. The manual is divided into modules, starting with objectives that are formulated very generally. Each module consists of only plain text without illustrations, and ends with a set of exercises which again are formulated very generally. No feedback on the exercises is provided.
The material is meant for use by learners. However, because of the lack of illustrations and feedback, stimulating lessons should be organized around the manual.
Although within the document it is stated that the manual is copy right protected and may not be reproduced, it can be downloaded free of charge from the WHO website.
